Victor Holt's involvement in photography began after seeing an exhibit by the renowned photographer Roy DeCarava at the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, DC. He was moved by the tonal ranges and complex composition based on uncomplicated scenes and, so visually relatable.
When it comes to film he subscribes to the theory of the famous photographer, Ansel Adams, that "the negative is the score, and the print is the performance." Victor's darkroom work creates images that show his creativity and unique identity.
He has received training in photography through numerous institutions locally and as a member of several photography clubs, and has benefited from the abundant skill level and knowledge within those groups.
He has exhibited his work through group and solo shows abroad, throughout the US and locally.
After a successful career as a Computer Specialist and Developer, Victor Holt was employed as a Staff Photographer and Photo Editor for the Washington Informer Newspaper utilizing digital technology. He is LSBDE-certified and involved with events, photojournalism and editorial projects and is available to new clients. He is also a member of the White House News Photographers Association, The United States Senate and House of Representatives Press Photographers Gallery and The Exposure Group Photographers Association. Currently he is the Official Photographer for the Washington DC City Council.
Victor Holt is a native Washingtonian and currently resides in the Van Ness neighborhood in northwest Washington, DC. He travels as much as possible.
